potential of the Born-Mayer type appropriate to KBr.
Comparison of the dc and the ac relative displacement patterns for
anharmonic gap modes of two different parities.
Both with the same relative amplitudes,
A/d=0.1, where d is the interatomic
distance. The heavy atoms of the diatomic chain
(m=39amu, M=80amu) are identified by
squares and the light atoms by the circles. The open shapes show the
dc displacements and the solid shapes, the vibrational amplitudes.
