Intrinsic Gap Mode Eigenvector in Zinc Blende Structure
You can move the crystal draging it with the mouse.
The intrinsic localized gap mode vibrating in the direction is
shown for zinc blende lattice. The amplitude of the central
light ion is 13% of the nearest-neighbor distance
(a/d=0.128). The frequency of
the shown intrinsic gap mode lies 5% down in the gap between optic and
acoustic phonon bands
The magnitude of the vibrational eigenvector
is enhanced by 2 times and the magnitude of the axial elastic
distortion is enhanced by 10 times for clearity.
