Matthew Paszek links sugar coating of cancer cells to their enhanced survival

Matthew Paszek, now assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Cornell, recently published work from his days as a postdoctoral fellow in LASSP, studying cancer cells. Using facilities at the Kavli Institute, Paszek looked at the mechanics of sugar coating around cancer cells and discovered that the thicker the sugar layer the better the cancer cells are able to survive.
